I remember when I was a child we always went to Puerto Vallarta on vacations, arriving to Compostela where the jungle begins, I liked to look out of the window and started to imagine what it would be like to get out of the car with a backpack and cross that part walking or biking. I daydreamed about living that adventure, discovering paths, exploring places, in contact with nature and being able to cross rivers or waterfalls, climb mountains and admire the view from the top. Passionate about living an epic experience, with map and compass in hand, sailing
to the sea, the final goal to meet again with my family. That was my ultimate dream, my great dream that I would fulfill thanks to sport.
I grew up, I became a professional athlete, I was able to travel around the world competing; my profession became my lifestyle, I began to invest more in experiences and less in things. The hike to Everest base camp filled me a thousand times more than going shopping in the USA, cycling through the coffee plantations of Cuba, the vineyards of South Africa or the volcanoes of Guatemala, are memories that will stay with me forever, spending a birthday walking in Chilean Patagonia, around the Torres del Paine, with a backpack and a map, alone, navigating at our own pace, without time or hurry, without sign or guide, between glaciers, rivers and masterful mountains, has undoubtedly been the best of living to the fullest!
